What the treatment involves
Whitening is the most-asked-about treatment on this site and the one where honesty matters most. It lightens natural enamel by a few shades. It does not change crowns, veneers or fillings, and it will not make every mouth the same brilliant white — nor should it.
That is why every course starts with a free twenty-minute consult. We check the gums and any existing work, take a shade reading and photographs, and tell you what to expect. If whitening is not the right answer for you, you will hear that before you have paid for anything.
Most patients choose take-home whitening. We scan your teeth, have thin custom trays made, and send you home with gel to wear for about an hour a day for two weeks. It is slower and gentler than whitening in the chair, and the result tends to last longer.
If you need the change quickly — a wedding, a new job — in-chair whitening does it in one ninety-minute appointment. Bring headphones; you will be sitting still for a while.
Top-ups are cheap. Keep your trays, and a £45 tube of gel once a year is usually enough.
Included in the price
- A check that your teeth and gums are healthy enough to whiten
- Shade photographs before and after, so the change is measured
- Custom trays made from a scan, not a putty mould
- Gel for two weeks and a review appointment
“Dr Craddock talked me out of veneers and into two bits of bonding. It cost a fraction and nobody can tell which teeth.”

Common questions
Will whitening make my teeth sensitive?
Some people feel a brief sensitivity in the first few days. We start with a gentler gel and give you a desensitising paste; it settles for almost everyone.
Does whitening work on crowns and fillings?
No. Whitening only changes natural enamel. If a front crown or filling would stand out afterwards, we will tell you at the consult and price replacing it separately.
